Francophone Minority Communities Student Pilot (FMCSP)
The Francophone Minority Communities Student Pilot (FMCSP) helps French-speaking students from certain countries in Africa, the Middle East, and the Americas get a study permit in Canada. It also provides a chance for these students to live in a Francophone community outside of Quebec after they finish their studies.
As a participant in the pilot, you:
- Will have access to settlement services while you study
- Might qualify for permanent residence after you graduate
Eligibility Criteria (1/2)
To be eligible for the FMCSP, you must meet the following criteria:
- Be a citizen of an eligible country. - Have a letter of acceptance from a participating designated learning institution (DLI) indicating your application under the FMCSP. The program must comply with the pilot's requirements.
- Have sufficient funds to cover:
- Tuition fees
Living expenses for yourself and any accompanying family members
(The required amount depends on the community size of your school's main campus.)
Eligibility Criteria (2/2)
- Live outside of Canada when you apply. - Demonstrate French language skills at level 5 or higher on the Niveaux de compétence linguistique canadiens scale. Acceptable tests include:
•Test d'évaluation de français (TEF Canada)
• Test de connaissance du français (TCF Canada)
Depending on your country of origin, additional documents may be required.
Study Program Requirements
Applicants must have a letter of acceptance from a participating DLI indicating that they are applying under the FMCSP. Their study program must meet the following criteria:
- Be at the post-secondary level - Be a full-time program
- Have a duration of 2 years or more - Lead to a degree or diploma
- Have French as the primary language of instruction (with over 50% of the classes taught
in French)
Proof of Fund Requirements
The amount of money needed for living expenses depends on the size of the community where the main campus of the school is located. Applicants must also demonstrate that they have sufficient funds to cover their tuition fees.
